The book "BELOVED"
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The book i have just got done reading is "BELOVED" by toni morrison. It's published by the penguin group in 1987.Set in 1873 just after the clivil war.It is based on the story of the African-American slave, Margaret Garner, who escaped slavery in 1856 in Kentucky by fleeing to Ohio, a free state. A posse arrived to retrieve her ,and her children under the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which gave slave owners the right to pursue slaves across state borders. Margaret killed her two-year-old daughter rather than allow her to be recaptured.
I think that toni morrison is one of our greatest writters we have ever had.A book like this set her apart from all the other writtes.I loved how in her book you could really like see the whole think in your mind while reading. From the first word sethe says to the last word you hear you see it place in your mind. It's like being inside her mind.In 2011, the book was placed on Time Magazine's top 100 non-fiction books written in English since 1923.THan in 1988 won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction
Sethe, kills her daughter and tries to kill her other three children when a posse arrives in Ohio to return them to Sweet Home, the plantation in Kentucky from which Sethe had recently fled. The daughter, Beloved, returns years later to haunt the house in which she was killed, Sethe's home at 124 Bluestone Road, Cincinnati. The story opens with an introduction to the ghost: "124 was spiteful. Full of a baby's venom."The book have themes such a mother-daughter realtonship, and also the inpact that slavery can have on someone who had to do things like that so that her own daughter wouldnt have to go back into being a slave, and have to feel like she was nothing.
I didnt like that she had to kill her own daughter just for her to not be a slave.I though that was a really sad part in the book for me because she was only a two year old child.I really liked that the book was based on someone real life and its her story oh how she went throug slavery and how after runing away how the dears kept bothering her.It made it think alot because i didnt think a mothers would do things like that just for there own children to not be slave.I learned alot about this book and it made me really think about how slave were and how sad it was for them and there own children too.
I think this book is for learning more about slavery and what it is like to be free. How you have to do something you dont want to just to keep your love one safe.I really learned something from this book.I love the way it was written and i think everyone should read it.

Goodreads 1st Book Review-THIRTEEN REASONS WHY by Jay Asher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The title of this book is called "Thirteen reasons why" by Jay Asher.Publication in 2007 this book have 288 pages and it took me about 3 weeks to read it because of soccer practice .This book is young-adult,take place in california in this time period the time it took place would be during the school year. The main characters are clay jenson and hannah baker. This book got a total of 7 awards such as the 2011 Paperback edition became a #1 New York Times bestseller in the US,Best Books for Young Adults ,and most of all Georgia Peach Book Awards for Teen Readers.
This book took place in california suring the school year maybe around three o clock the most.In this book hannah who commented suicide because of 13 people in her school.so they are basely the bad gays in the book because it tell the story of each one of them and why they pushed her to do what she did.The major conflict is clay geting a box of tap one day after school and going around his town listening to hannah story of why she did what she did.The thirteen people also know as the other characters in the book are Justin Foley,Alex Standall,Jessica Davis,Courtney Crimsen,Tyler Down,Tyler Down,Zach Dempsey,Ryan Shaver,Justin Foley (again),Jenny Kurtz,Bryce Walker,Mr. Porter, and most of all Clay Jensen (co-narrator).
Jay Asher is just trying to say in high school or even in life the things that you do to other people might lead to there suicide or doing something to others.I really dont think what hannah did was wrong she should have called out for help but than again the person she told didnt really tell anyone and he didnt belive her.she could still asked out for help to her mom&dad. This book better understand life better as in things i say can hurt other people or even push them to doing something like that.
What i like about this book is that it makes you really think about life.high school is hard and you never know who people are on the indise. That words can hurt people and what you do might seem lilttel but to others its a big deal.I love how when how the book make you want to keep reading to find out why they made her kill herself. There isnt anything that i dont love about the book because it make you want more and more of it once you start reading your not gone stop.
I would say every teeen in american needs to read this book not only but adults should too. This book is breath takeing and you really can understand what go on in people life how one little rumor can make someone do something like this.Jay Asher book is wonderful and takes your soul everything about it.His books makes you want more and more of it.If you love books abouts teens than this is the book for you its something i would say for everyone to read.
